Steffany Skelley Gilmer
We love cooking but even more than that, we love cooking together as a family. After a long, busy day when everyone is either working or in school, it's nice being able to come together in the kitchen and spend time with one another while we prepare dinner.
It doesn't matter if you've got the skills of a professional chef or if you're just starting out in the kitchen. Cooking and meal time is a great opportunity to gather the family together and share stories, make memories, have a few laughs and work together as a team.
Not to mention, it's educational for the kids too (think measuring, time management, etc.) Cooking helps develop children's hand-eye coordination and small muscle control. A child's pride and confidence grow as new skills are learned in the kitchen. And, cooking as a family also helps teach responsibility and teamwork.
Authors Shelley Onderdonk and Rebecca Bloom are professional, working women, longtime friends and also moms - and they know that cooking and meal time is a great chance to share something special with the family. They also know that cooking doesn't have to be complicated!
Since their children were about to leave for college, these longtime friends worked together to create The Anti-Cookbook - a very special and unique cookbook that takes all the "what ifs" and worry out of the kitchen.
The Anti-Cookbook breaks down recipes in an easy to follow format, shows how cooking doesn't need to be complicated, offers great motherly tips & advice and reminds us how meal time is not only a time for nourishment but also a time to create memories with those that we love.
In exchange for a review, we were given a copy of Shelley Onderdonk and Rebecca Bloom's The Anti-Cookbook. Scroll down to read what we loved about this book and where you can purchase a copy!
